Curriculum and Syllabus for Bachelor of Port & Harbour Engineering


Learning Objective: The aims of the study program are to continuously develop human resources of well competent professionals in planning, designing and constructing of modern civil, port and coastal related fields.

General Viva Voce

A student who has completed all the course work and industrial training requirement will be allowed to take a General Viva Voce, in which general technical knowledge of the student to practice as a qualified Port & Harbor engineer as well as his English language proficiency will be tested. Only if he proves to be satisfactory in the General Viva Voce, he will be awarded the B.E (Port & Harbor Engineering) degree.

Note

An academic year consists of two academic Semesters, each having a duration of 16 weeks of classroom/ lab contact time followed by 2-3 weeks of private study and examinations, thus totalling about 19 weeks for each Semester.

There will be a vacation of one month after the first-Semester examinations. After the final (end-of-the-year) examinations there will be and Industrial Training of specified duration followed by a long vacation.

The tutorial/lab performance (if any) together with the examination marks for both Semesters will be considered in making the final evaluation of a student in a particular subject.

Minimum of 75% classroom attendance and 100% laboratory attendance are required for a student to be qualified for taking and examinations.

If the student fails the examination one time during the academic year, it will be regarded as 1-F. If the student fails two times in one academic year, it will be regarded as 2-F or External Student. There will be no Supplementary Examination in any academic year.
