Department of Chemistry

About the Department

       Department of Engineering Chemistry is one of the supporting departments in the MMU.It was founded together with the very first maritime university MMU in Myanmar at 2002. The subject provided by the department is mainly intended to meet the requirement for knowledge and understanding through a broad range of interesting real world application and maritime field.

Aims and Objectives

       Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with the study of matter, its composition, physical and chemical properties and applications. It is useful in everyday life and important for engineers to have knowledge of chemistry.

       To recognize the fundamental needs for Chemistry in the major fields of engineering.

       To become confident citizens for handling and performing safely in chemicals and materials provided in a technological world.

Quality Objective (Department)

  • To revalidate and update the course plan at least Once in academic Year
  • To review the equipment and necessary chemical in laboratory at least Once in academic Year
